Notes for Joseph Dodson Selvidge:
Joseph Dodson Selvidge served in the Union Army during the War between the States. He was a private in Company B, Phelps Regiment, Missouri Volunteers. He enlisted 5 September 1861 and was discharged 9 April 1862. He had had measles and had a backset which went into pneumonia and left him with a heart condition. He drew a pension on this disability from the US Government as a Civil War Veteran.
Martha E. Selvidge applied for a widows pension and it was granted. She had minor children.
Buried in Sherrodd Cemetery, Taney County, Missouri
Directions: From Brown Branch take hwy 76 South, turn West at Dalton Road.(It is just before you get to Douglas County line. follow Dalton Road about 5 miles. At Fletcher Road turn right going through fields crossing 5 cattle guards. the Cemetery is in a open field. It is fenced and taken care of. George T. Gamblin Dies At 83 At Home Of Daughter East Of Lawton Thursday
George Thomas Gamblin 83, a resident of duncan and vicinity for about 35 years, died at the home of a daughter 11 miles east of Lawton about 8 o'clock Thursday morning.
Funeral services are scheduled for this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Rangley-Goodman chapel. the Rev. Arthur Wheeler of Lawton will conduct the rites and burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery.
Gamblin was born in Ringold, GA, on February 8, 1854. He formerly was in business in Duncan. His wife died January 11, 1910, and was buried in the duncan Cemetery.
Gamblin succumbed at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Brooksie Tomecek. Other survivors include: another daughter, Mrs. Clara Hudson of Houston, Texas; and two sons, Earl of Ada and Bearl of Lawton route 1.
He had been a member of the Baptist church for many years.
