In 1840 Census of Hall County, Georgia SION GAMBLIN is shown as male sixty less than seventy; his imputed range of year of birth is again 1771-1780 inclusive.
SION GAMBLIN had several land transactions in Greenville District, South Carolina in 1809, 1812, 1824, 1825 which involved land along Guilders Creek where william Gamblin had extensive holdings.
CONCLUSION - In both cases SION GAMBLIN's imputed range of year of birth included in the range of year of birth for the UNKNOWN MALE in William Gamblin's household in the above listings. Sion seems to be the only unaccounted for male and we feel he is the son of William Gamblin and Susanna Cole Gamblin.

Obituary of William Gamblin - Russellville Democrat (Newspaper) Pope County Arkansas. (Probably in the week of September 25, 1886.
William Gamblin was born in Catoosa County, North Georgia, 12 November 1843. He professes religion at Mastons campground before the war, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. After the war, that church being destroyed and the membership scattered, he united with the church at Blackwells Chapel.
He moved to pope County, Arkansas, bringing his church certificate with him and cast his lot with the church at Russelville, where he lived a consistent member until 25 September 1886, when he was called to rest from his labors. his little son, Joseph Franklin, 9 years, five months and ten days old, preceded him to the spirit world just fifteen days, having died 10 September, 1886. When Jodie died, he said in his tears of sorrow, "He is gone; nor can i call him back but i can go to him," little thinking that he would go so soon. -- S. S. Key

Another Oldtimer Gone J. H. Gamblin came to this country about thirty years ago and has since been one of its most respected citizens. He was one of my best friends, a man of unusual mental power and ability. It was always edifying to converse with him for he always had something to say worth while on any of the important issues of the day, for he kept abreast of the times.
In his day he was also an able public speaker and excellent business man and did much in early times in building up the moral and educational interests of the country. The world would be much the better for more such men. He was one of the god friends of my father and my wife's fathewr and others of the oldtimers who have long preceeded him to the other side.
Most of his children are still our neighbors. In early days of this country my memory runs to where we were all young people together and in church and school and Sunday School and singing conventions did what we could to develop ourselves intellectually, morally and spiritually.
He was buried in the Tucker Cemetery on last Monday afternoon, and as I could not be present at the funeral services, I suppose someone else will give a more detailed report of his life, etc. But as one of the first of the oldtimers, I desired to say something by way of a funeral notice to an old time friend. We must al soon pass over and let us so live that we may be prepared when at the end of the days of our appointed time our change shall come.

Grandma Gamblin Dead Once mre the death angel has visited our community and snatched from our midst another soul and wafted it into the endless realms of eternity when Mrs. Eliza Annie Gamblin died at ehe home of her son, J. W., last Thursday.
Grandmother Gamblin was born in Georgia in 1845 and died at the age of 83 years. She was a devout member of the Baptist church and was loved by everyone that knew her.
Two sons, Joe and Walter Gamblin and a number of other relatives servive. the funeral services were held at the home of J. W. Gamblin Friday, with Rev. J. H. Cunningham officiating after which interment was made in the Tucker cemetery by the Steele funeral Home.

This is strange because he had an older brother whose name was William. That William migrated to AR with his brother John Henry and probably Joseph W. and his father, mother and other young siblings. That is where he lived his life and died there.

AGED RESIDENT IS DEAD, RITES TODAY George T. Gamblin Dies At 83 At Home Of Daughter East Of Lawton Thursday George Thomas gamblin 83, a resident of duncan and vicinity for about 35 years, died at the home of a daughter 11 miles east of Lawton about 8 o'clock Thursday morning.
Funeral services are scheduled for this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Rangley-Goodman chapel. the Rev. Arthur Wheeler of Lawton will conduct the rites and burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery.
Gamblin was born in Ringold, GA, on February 8, 1854. He formerly was in business in Duncan. His wife died January 11, 1910, and was buried in the Duncan Cemetery.
Gamblin succumbed at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Brooksie Tomecek. Other survivors include: another daughter, Mrs. Clara Hudson of Houston, Texas; and two sons, Earl of Ada and Bearl of Lawton route 1. He had been a member of the Baptist church for many years.
Notes for Elizabeth Crowley: Although Elizabeth (Lizzie) Crowley according to records of Benton County, Arkansas marriages married Alanzo Potter she was listed as Lizzie Gamlen in the obituary of her father who died in Benton County in 1910.

James and his family moved from Georgia to Arkansas between 1846-1849. (It is supposed that was the reason the other Gamblins later moved there.)
James H. married the second time on 3 April 1866 to Mrs. Harriett Tweedle in Montgomery Co., Arkansas.
MARRIAGE RECORD FROM BOOK "A" page 28, Montgomery County, AR. A. B. Anderson an acting and duly commissioned Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Montgomery and State of Arkansas do herby ceertify that on the 3rd day of April 1866 at the County of Montgomery and State of Arkansas I did duly join in marriage James H. Gamblin of Montgomery County, Arkansas, aged 47 years and Harriet Tweedle of Montgomery County, Arkansas, aged 40 years and then and there declared them Husband and Wife. Given under my had this 26th day of December 1866. (Signed) A. B. Anderson J. P. (filed 7 January 1867)
One of the Gamblin cousins found the marriage and this is what she wrote about James H.
James H. Gamblin, son of Zion(Sion) Gamblin, came to Arkansas between 1846-1849. I suppose this is the reason the other Gamblins came to Arkansas. His first wife on the 1850 Census was listed as Virelia and on the 1860 Census at Emmervilla. Their last son Sylvester, was born in 1857. The wife must have died because he married Harriett Tweedle in 1866, the wife of the late E. L. Tweedle. James was the administrator of the last E. L. Tweedle's Will.

This was for the purpose of of applying for a pension on the minor children of Joseph Dodson Selvidge who died as a result of having measles which advanced into pneumonia and left him with heart disease from which he died very young. (Joseph was drawing a pension when he died. (The date of Martha's birth does not agree with the date on her tombstone).
