Dycus Cemetery is located in the 3rd Civil district of Jackson county, Tennessee, on the west side of Wartrace creek near the site of the old church called Camp Ground Meeting House of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. this land was owned by and donated for the Cemetery by Addison dycus and so it was named in his honor. In 1936 the land was owned by Joe ray and his wife Ella Carver Ray. Mrs. Ray a granddaughter of Addison lives near by. tradition has it that General Bragg's Army camped during the War in the bottoms along the creek and so the church received the name "Camp Ground Meeting House." The creek being the route traveled by the soldiers, likewise was named "Wartrace" Creek.

I quote: The Teel Graveyard is located in the 3rd Civil District of Jackson county, on Wartrace Creek, about 1/2 mile above the Camp Ground Methodist Church, also 12 miles West of Gainesboro. The land formerly owned by Adam Teel, who came from Virginia, or North Carolina soon after 1800. This farm was sold to his son, William Teel, who later sold same farm to Cornelius Carver, and moved to Texas.
Adam Teel and his wife are buried here and other members of the Teel family. There are many graves here, with only a few of them marked. Many slaves are buried in this graveyard, a few of their graves marked with a flat rock, but have no names or dates on them.
This land is now owned and cultivated by Walter Draper, his residence but a few yards from the above named graveyard.
It is located behind the house and beside the barnyard of Mr. McQue, who now owns the property whe we visited in 1990. Mr. McQue said that he had never heard it referred to as Teel Cemetery or any other name. Itwas just there when he bought the property. The Draper residence has been torn down and a new brick house built. The old barn is still there.
Riley has a tall monument with a poem carved on it. At that time we could not find the gravestone of Sarah, although in 1937 when Mrs. Maude McGlasson of Gainesboro, Tennessee canvased the Cemetery there was a stone on it.

In 1866 Alexander M. Ferguson, a citizen of Jackson County, Tennessee files a complaint with the Hon. Thomas Barry Chancellor of the 7th Chanceru division of the State of Tennessee, holding court at Gainsboro in the said state against the heirs of Dr. B. Sloan for land to be sold to satisfy debts owed by Dr. Sloan at the tile of his death. His wife, Mary and baby died shortly after the death of Dr. Sloan.
The land in question was as follows:
a tract of land in the county of Jackson and State of Tennessee in District No. 3 on the waters of War Trace Creek, bounded as follows: Beginning on a Rock fixed for a corner on the West side of the Creek on the hill side in Daniel Hufhines's North boundary line, running thence West with a conventional line made between Adam Teel and Peter Teel to a dead Beech, thence with Carver's lime to Jolh A. dycus North East Corner thence nearly south with said Dycus' line to the Dry Fork thence up the branch to a stake in said line to the top of the hill thence with the Meanders of the ridge to a rock pile a corner thence East to Willis Corwell's line thence North with said line to the top of the ridge to a large beech made for a corner thence nearly North with the cross fence to the beginning including the place where R. F. Richmond lived in the year 1859 supposed to contain one hundred and thirty acres more or less, Conveyed by Daniel Hufhines to Droctor B. Sloan by deed dated 18th day of January 1860 which is registered in the Registrar's office of said County of Jackson in Book L, Page 4.
This land was probably given to Dr. Sloan on the event of his marriage to Daniel's daughter, Mary.
