The origin of the Perrin family in America is not yet fully researched. An old Perrin Bible contains some fragmentary information. It says that the Perrin line dates to Paris, France, 1450. A John Perrin who lived in London, England in 1580, was the father of John Perrin the immigrant who landed at Tidewater, VA, in 1635.
He took up a land grant 3 April 1651 of 400 acres in York Co., Va, on the north side of the york River on Perrins's Creek. He married Mary (?) and had a son John and other children.
This John Perrin was born in Virginia in 1675 and married Elizabeth Lee who were parents of: Josephus, John, William and George Perrin.
The rest of the Bible record deals with descendants of William Perrin who married Mary Clopton. It is believed the Perrin family that married into the Gates family is related to the Perrins above, but the exact relationship is, at this time, unclear.

The William Perrin family moved to Collin County, Texas from Kentucky around 1839. (Jean Sherwood says they came to Texas in 1845 with the Peters Colony and took land in Collin County.) His name did turn up in a book of early Collin county settlers as coming there before 1850.
They are both buried in the Leach-Thomas Cemetery in Collin County. The location of the cemetery is known but there are no markers standing.
Dycea Kerby was William's first cousin.
Some say William was born in Logan Co., KY.

The William Perrin family came to Dallas Co.,Texas in the Fall of 1853, then on to Wise county arriving the day before Christmas in 1854. Another family who came with them from Rock Castle County, KY was the Proctor family. Mary Hunt, daughter of Charlotte by a former husband, married James A. Proctor. They were the first couple to be married in Wise County, January 3, 1856.
One person reported that William married a woman named Judith Crigler 26 Jan 1842 in Monroe Co., MO. They also report that there were two children born to them: Mahala 17 July 1844 and Milton about 1849. This doesn't seem likely since he was in rock Castle Co., KY in 1850 with wife charlotte and 7 children encluding Mahala and Milton.

Funeral services for Mrts. Zula Melinda Smith 83, Wilson, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Assembly of god church with the Rev. J. R. fuller officiating. Burial in Hewitt Cemetery will be directed by Leslie funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born February 14, 1883 in Wise County, Texas. She had resided in the Wilson area since 1938.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Anna large, Wilson, Mrs. Frances Warrick, and Mrs. Thelma Tax, Texas City, Texas. A son, leonard Sanders, sun Ray, Texas. A brother Leslie Rogers, Duncan, and 35 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grreat-grandchildren.

born November 3, 1869, in Gainsville, Texas, he is survived by his wife Zula, three daughters: Mrs. Melvin Large, Wilson, Mrsl Frances Warwick and Mrs. N. A. Tax, both of Galveston, Texas. One son, W. L. Sanders, Borger, Texas, and 23 grandchildren.
The Rev. E. W. Holder will preside at the services. Burial in the Hewitt Cemetery is in the charge of Richeson-Leslie Funeral Home.
