Missouri Pioneers Vol. 10 says that J.H. Shell immigrated from Sullivan County, TN to Audrain County, MO in 1858 but they appear on the 1840 and 1850 census of Audrain County, MO. Perhaps it should have been 1838 that they immigrated.
